English Language Arts
This year in reading your child will continue using the EL Reading Program that they started in third grade last year. They will be exposed to multiple types of literature and expected to look closely at text. Students will be assessed using multiple assessments throughout the year. Some of the key concepts taught throughout the 4th grade reading curriculum are: main idea, supporting details, cause and effect, author’s purpose, predictions, connections, questions, fact & opinions, inferring, drawing conclusions, and other comprehension strategies. Our goal for our students is for them to think independently and deeply.
